St. Paul's Anglican Cathedral ..... The Cathedral is a remarkable piece of architecture. The nave, begun in 1915 and consecrated four years later, is Victorian Gothic. Distinctive white Oamaru stone is used throughout, including a stone vaulted ceiling (height, 20 metres), the only such example in New Zealand. St Paul's Cathedral is situated in the heart of the city, in the upper Octagon next to the Town Hall. 

First Church .....Dunedin's historic First Church was built in 1873, and as its name implies was the first permanent church of Otago.

Taieri Gorge Railway ..... New Zealand's longest and largest tourist railway. The journey depart from historic Dunedin Railway Station, through the rugged and spectacular Taieri River Gorge, across wrought iron viaducts and through tunnels carved by hand more than 100 years ago. With full commentary, photographic stops and on board refreshments the train offers year round, all-weather entertainment. Upon getting to the end of the line you could link up with a bus and head further into Queenstown.

Baldwin Street ..... The world's steepest street. The annual Baldwin Street Gutbuster is part of Dunedin's Summer Festival program. Challenge yourself and test your fitness level while you spare a thought for the folks who live at the top of the world's steepest street.

Larnach Castle ..... Larnach Castle is situated high among the rolling hills of the Otago Peninsula, the grand home of an early politician. Construction of the castle began in 1871 and was completed five years later. Larnach Castle and its historic-style garden can be reached via the high road (Highcliff Road) along the Peninsula's ridge.

Royal Albatross Centre ..... The Royal Albatross Colony at Taiaroa Head, Otago Peninsula is the world's only mainland breeding colony of albatross. The Royal Albatross is a gliding phenomenon and often circumnavigates the globe, often aloft for days. Visitors to the centre can get a unique glimpse of the colony and view other interesting wildlife displays and historical features. 

Yellow-eyed Penguin Reserve ..... The Reserve is situated at Penguin Place on Otago Peninsula about 35 km from Dunedin city. The reserve is primarily a conservation and educational area, offering guided tours into the natural nesting areas of the Yellow-eyed Penguin. The Maori term "HOIHO" is now used as a popular name to describe the Yellow Eyed Penguin. Hoiho, meaning "noise maker" is a reference to the birds amazing, full, bugle call.

Moeraki Boulders ..... 80km from Dunedin, huge spherical stones that are scattered over the sandy beaches are the Moeraki Boulders. These boulders are classed as septarian concretions, and were formed in ancient sea floor sediments. They were created by a process similar to the formation of oyster pearls.
